Four easy steps to the perfect window treatment… |
| Step
1: Choose Your Configuration... |
| One of the most important aspects of your
shutter installation is choosing the correct layout or
configuration. Consider how you envisage using your shutters
on a daily basis. You may well intend to draw them everyday
like curtains so panel width and folding space will be
important, however, shutters are intended to provide light
and privacy control whilst remaining across the window
(unlike most other window treatments!) The diagrams below
show the three most popular configuration options utilised
when selecting a layout, these are:
|
| 1: Full Height |
(With or without an optional* middle rail) |
| 2: Tier on Tier |
(Ideal for achieving maximum light whilst still maintaining
privacy low down) |
| 3: Café style |
(Where only privacy is required to any given height) |
|
 |
| Step
2: Choose Your Louver Size... |
| There are 3 main choices of louver:
48mm (1 3/4"), 64mm (2 1/2") and 89mm (3 1/2").
Use the louver guide on the anatomy
section to give you an idea of how the different sizes
of louver can look. Typically, the larger the louver,
the more open and simple the overall look will be. Larger
louvers allow more light in as there are less louvers
in the panel and they also provide a more transparant
and simple look when the louvers are in the open position.
Remember that if you opt for our free survey you will
be able to see for yourself the dramatic effects of louvre
size on your own window. |

3: Select The Panel Options... |
Please note that we may recommend some options
for the structural integrity of some shutters, such as middle
rails in the case of very tall panels. We are happy to advise
on options so please ask if you have any queries.
Options include: |
| |
| Middle
Rails:
Advised on panels over 1200mm for structural integrity
but subject to installation and intended use, may be ommitted.
Special mid rail placement:
The height of the mid rail position can be varied
and placed at a specific point within the panel if necessary.
This is a no cost option and can enhance an installation
by matching the shutter layout to the layout of a windwow
frame.
Offset or hidden control
rods:
Light Line® Hidden control rods are a new edition
to our range of shutters and allow a unique "louver
only" view. No control rod is visble from the face
of the shutter.
Offset control rods allow you to keep the classic shutter
look but with a more unobstruced view. Eventual panel
widths used can play big part in ensuring this option
looks correct and we will be happy to advise.
See the Anatomy section for
additional information on both these options. |

4: Choose Your Finish... |
| Paints:
|
| With our own in-house facility we are
in the unique position of being able to offer virtually
any paint finish to complete the process. All the major
manufacturers are catered for including: Dulux,
Crown, Farrow & Ball, Fired Earth, Sandersons, Leyland,
Zophany, Paint Library and many others. All we
usually need is the manufacturer, the range or the paint
or BS code. If the finish is very obscure, a scan can
be taken from a supplied sample which will even allow
us to match to those not so available "home-made"
colours.
Please note that our standard finish is a semi-matt gloss
level and we will be using our own paint products not
the actual manufacturers product. This is due to the requirements
of the spraying process. Also, there is a one-off mixing
charge per colour of £45.
Standard paints (included in the shutter cost) are as
follows:
Standard white, Dulux Dove White, Gardenia (BS
10 B 15) and Magnolia (BS 10 B 13) All other
paint colours are considered a custom mix. |
 |
| Stains:
|
| Choose from our extensive range
of standard stains opposite or send us your own sample to
match. |
